Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said that Boko Haram insurgency will be a thing of the past if elected as President in 2019, as he would deal with the issue within the shortest possible time.
Atiku who is a PDP presidential aspirant made this known on Tuesday in Maiduguri at the Forshams Conference Hall, GRA while addressing Borno State PDP members and supporters.
While speaking, the former VP said Nigeria ended its civil war in just 2 and a half years despite the thick forests in the south-east and wondered why the fight against Boko Haram has taken 9 years.
He added that his strategy will be to make every commander tell him his story on how the insurgency will be ended within the shortest time as it has crippled activities in the North East, and has made Nigeria amongst the poorest nations in the world.
The Adamawa state born Politician said the issues of unemployment, poverty and Boko Haram insurgency will be his major focus if voted as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019.
