There was pandemonium yesterday at the Ijora Badia axis of Lagos state as some police operatives from the Area B division clashed with some Naval Officers.
The clash was said to have been caused by a disagreement over the control of the movement of tankers.
Both forces had been dispatched to the area due to the indiscriminate parking and movement of tankers on that axis in a bid to restore order.
Though no life was lost in the clash, there were indiscriminate gunshots from both forces as the argument degenerated into a fight, leaving two policemen injured.
Eyewitnesses say the issue began when a Naval officer led a tanker driver from Western Avenue towards Apapa. The tanker driver was stopped by the Police who wanted to know why he beat the organized queue. An argument ensued, followed by a fight with re-enforcement from other Naval officers who came in a van.
The police were said to have retreated and reported the issue to the Area Commander.
