The marriage between the teacher, Chiadiakobi Ezeibekwe, who married his teenage sister Chibuzor Ezeibekwe aged 17 years has been annulled by Agba community in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The controversial marriage was canceled over the public outcry of the incestuous union between  Chiadiakobi who claimed he married his sister following a revelation from God to do so.

But the traditional ruler said such a marriage went against the custom and norm of the people and ordered that a cleansing must be done in order to avert the wrath of God.

The Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Onwuatuegwu, carried out the spiritual cleansing of the entire Lewis Ezeibekwe family.

Reading from 1 Peter 24:2 of the Bible, the priest warned against incestuous relationships which were rampant in the society today.

Before the start of the service, the entire family knelt before the traditional ruler and elders of the community to apologize, Chiadiakobi also apologized for marrying his sister. He admitted what he did was wrong but that he did not do it because of lust for his sister.

After the cleansing rites were performed, Seven female virgins in white clothes used seven palm fronds to sweep the Ezeibekwe compound.
