A Bolton couple has been accused of murdering their infant child after they refused to feed or clothe him which led to his death and then buried him naked in a shoe box in a shallow grave.
Anthony Clark, and Catherine Davies are accused of allowing the child to become dehydrated and starved to death.
Catherine is said to have kept a diary during her pregnancy where she said ‘pregnancy is p***ing me right off’ and complained that the ‘monstrosity’ made her ‘feel fat’
Anthony and Catherine were living together in Bolton when she gave birth to a baby in August 2016 and the child is thought to have died four days later.
The couple allegedly put him in a shoe box, wrapped in Sellotape, before he was buried in a shallow grave at Heaton Cemetery at night.Authorities never knew about the baby’s existence or death.
Both Clark and Catherine deny committing murder, though Clark has pleaded guilty to concealing a birth, Catherine denies concealing a birth.
Both parents put their needs above the needs of the child, a previous child they had was taken from them for the same reason. They shopped for provisions for themselves but never bought baby food.
Police were informed after Catherine contacted her mother, asking for money in September last year. She denied the birth of the child and blamed her mother’s mental health for making up the stories.
The couple later admitted that the child was born alive but later died in his sleep. They also claimed he had birth defects, and was too tiny and above all, they had no money to feed and clothe him.
On her diary, Catherine she wrote ‘died in sleep’ on August 27 and ‘buried in a box. Love you always’ on August 30.
