President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday ordered that sick former Vice President Alex Ekwueme be taken abroad for medical treatment.
In a statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, the President gave the order after he was briefed on the medical condition of the former Vice President.
Shehu said that the approval would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey as well as the cost of his treatment.
The President Buhari also prays that God grants the elder statesman a speedy recovery.
The former vice president was said to have collapsed in his residence last weekend.
