An Iowa couple, Cheyanne Harris, and Zachary Koehn, has been arrested and charged with the murder of their 4-month-old son, whose decomposing body was found in a baby swing inside the couple’s home.
Cheyanne and Zachary had called an ambulance to their apartment on Aug. 30 reporting that their 4-month old baby, Sterling Koehn, had died just a few hours earlier after Harris had fed him.
When paramedics got to their home, they found the infant in a powered swing seat in a bedroom separate from where the couple and their other child slept.Maggots were found in the baby’s diapers and skin.
Forensic tests carried out showed that the baby’s diaper had not been changed for over a week., and that the baby had not been bathed or moved from the seat for more than a week.
An autopsy also found that the emaciated child measured well below the fifth percentile in size and weight for his age.
Harris and Koehn both face first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death charges and will be arraigned on November 2nd.
