The mother of Officer Charleston Hartfield who was killed in the Las Vegas gun attack by Stephen Paddock has died two days after the burial of her son which was held last Friday.
Officer Hartfield was off-duty and was with his wife at the music festival on Oct. 1 when Stephen Paddock opened fire on concertgoers killing 58 and injuring 489.
Hartfield’s mother, Sheryl Stiles attended the funeral but, hours later, suffered a heart attack and fell down the escalator of her hotel, the GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral expenses says.
Sheryl suffered brain damage from the fall and her family decided to remove her from life support on Sunday.Her family believes she died of a broken heart.They say she kept saying she wanted to be with her son.
Hartfield, an Army National Guard with 17 years experience sacrificed his life to shield people, as the rain of bullets from Stephen Paddock’s attack went on.He was also a Metropolitan Police officer for 11 years.
He had two kids, a son aged 15 and a daughter aged 9.
