A couple who reside in Detroit has been arrested and charged with human trafficking after keeping a special needs woman in a shed and using her as a sex slave by offering her to men to have sex with her and paying them money, reports say.
The couple, Misty George, aged 30, and her boyfriend Michael Welsh, aged 38 were accused of forcing a 29-year –old physically disabled and mentally challenged woman to live in their shed without allowing her to use their shower or bathroom.
Detroit Free Press said the woman was initially allowed to live inside the couple’s home, she was later moved to the shed after she was unable to pay rent.
Welsh is then alleged to have placed several adverts online searching for men who would pay to have sex with the victim.
The woman was able to eventually to leave the shed, after which she went home to tell her family what she had passed through and the authorities were informed.
Authorities say instead of helping the special-needs person, George and Welch rather took her support money, forced her to live in an outside shed, and used her as a prostitute.
Welsh is also facing another charge of committing a crime with a computer and is also expected to face more charges, as he tried to escape on foot after he was arrested, but was captured and returned to Macomb County Jail.
