A serving Senator representing Bauchi central constituency, Senator Isah Misau, has accused the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris of being in a relationship with two serving police officers, adding that the IGP has married one of them secretly because she is four months pregnant.
He also said that the IG is in relationships with policewomen whom he gave special promotion. The senator named one of them as Amina and the other one is DSP Esther whom the IG is said to have married on the15th of last month.
Under the police act and regulation, an officer cannot marry as serving woman police unless that woman retires
Senator Isah added that the IG quickly had a secret wedding in Kaduna because the lady in question is four months pregnant.
There has been an ongoing feud between the IG and Senator Isah.The police have described Senator Isah who was a police officer as a defector who abandoned his duty post in 2010 and has also called him a habitual liar who visits Indian hemp joints, while Senator Isah has accused the IGP of corruption.
Senator Isah Misau also accused the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim of receiving money from oil companies where police officers were posted to provide security.
Speaking on the “special promotion” given to the two female officers, Amina and DSP Esther, the senator said the action has demoralized other officers.He went on to say the IG also promotes those loyal to him unduly.
The senate president Bukola Saraki has appointed a six-man Ad-hoc committee to investigate the allegations against the police force.
